StenSilan® WW is a single-component, silane-based, water-based water-repellent impregnation material. It carries chemical groups that react with mineral surfaces, binding chemically to give the surface a hydrophobic (water-repellent) character. A white, water-based emulsion, StenSilan® WW forms an invisible layer after application and does not change the natural appearance of the surface. It is resistant to UV radiation and increases the durability of the surface it covers.
Areas of Use
StenSilan® WW makes natural stone, marble, ceramic, plaster and aerated concrete surfaces hydrophobic, preventing water absorption. It does not form a separate layer but does not allow water to enter the structure either, so it does not stop the structure from breathing while preventing water from collecting beneath the coating and preventing failures such as the coating separating over time. It creates surfaces that are unaffected by water-borne contaminants and prevents salt efflorescence on absorbent surfaces during drying. Major applications include concrete, plaster and aerated concrete surfaces; the protection of historical and contemporary stone artworks against atmospheric effects; and concrete floors and surface coatings, roads, runways, terraces and retaining walls.
